From 19th to 25th November 2017, representatives of Posušje and Jablanica municipalities, public institution “Park prirode” and tourism businesses and associations active in the Blidinje Nature Park area visited several tourist destinations and protected areas in Germany. Participants in this study tour organised as part of the EU ProLocal programme were introduced to the development concept and tourism products in these destinations.
On a journey of almost 1000 km that started and ended in Berlin, participants visited three protected areas and more than ten locations with specific tourism products. Through direct conversations with tourism workers and environmental experts, participants learned about the trends in eco-tourism, specific management solutions for protected areas, clusters and destination management, as well as different financing and marketing models. This study tour also fostered networking between participants and strengthened their mutual business relations.
In the coming period they will undertake a series of intensive and coordinated activities with the intent to change waste disposal habits, introduce new tourism products and add value to the existing ones.
This is now the second year of EU ProLocal efforts aimed at making Blidinje more competitive as a tourist destination and an important part of Herzegovina tourism.
